“The Landlord” by Copie Rodriguez turns an urban character study into a pointed piece of social commentary. A cigar-smoking landlord appears against a distressed wall and partial rental sign. From beyond the edge of the composition, an unseen person gives him the middle finger, immediately undercutting his authority and transforming the portrait into a small act of protest.
Rodriguez combines urban figuration, social realism and street-art satire. Acrylic, ink and colored pencil create a rough, weathered surface, while the partial signage and homemade frame give the work an assemblage-like quality.

Had a lovely time here with my partner. I love the concept of the place. We especially appreciated that there were art projects available for a variety of skill levels. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. The attached art supply thrift store is very cool too.

I hosted a small get together for my daughter’s tenth birthday and I couldn’t be happier.
The staff was kind, patient and encouraging. They truly made all of the girls feel comfortable and supported, helping them bring their ideas to life.
I especially loved that each child created something completely unique!
We recently held a team-building event at Asbury Park Art Club and had a fantastic experience. The venue has a cool, artsy seaside vibe and aesthetic that sets a creative tone. Our small group of 7 made Découpage Seashells, which is a seasonal project. Karen and her staff were very attentive throughout the process, providing guidance to our group and ensuring we had everything we needed. It’s the perfect space for a small group seeking a unique experience.
What a wonderful little gem in Asbury Park. We made our crafts and had plenty of encouragement from the owner and staff. I highly recommend this place for a fun afternoon with kids (and not so little kids!)
Local art for sale, art thrift shop & an Art cafe! What a fabulous place! Can’t wait to return with my friends to create our own art!
