Artist Statement: My photograph, "Skyline of Memory - Asbury Park Rising", captures a city poised at the intersection of its fabled past and ascendant future. It frames a dialogue between two eras.The Wonder Bar stands as a repository of memory, its familiar facade a symbol of the raw, creative energy that cemented Asbury Park's place in musical lore. It represents the soul of a city that has weathered both vibrant life and profound decay.Juxtaposed against this hallowed landmark is the stark geometry of nev construction, a testament to the city's powerful, and complex, contemporary renaissance. This is the "Asbury Park Rising" of the title— wave of investment and transformation reshaping the very skyline.The scene is bathed in the transitional, almost theatrical light of sunset.
The fiery hues of the sky do not favor one structure over the other; they wash over both, binding them together in a single, poignant frame.This image seeks not to judge this evolution, but to document the fragile, visually striking balance where heritage and progress coexist. It is a meditation on what a city chooses to carry forward, what it builds anew, and the shared horizon under which both must exist.
AMAZING!! Beautiful store and very lovely staff. Everyone was so kind and the service was impeccable. The music and the decor all around the store was also such a great touch. Had the best time here!!
Karen was so patient as my partner and I looked over their Art a la carte selection and attentive throughout each step of our creative process. Self directed but with friendly advice employees always ready to offer a hand, extra materials, and answer questions. We were so surprised to find they had only been open for 2 weeks because the whole process went so smoothly. I can't wait to visit Asbury Park again so we can do it again!
A fun new Addition to our area after art cafes became popular in NYC in the last couple years.
The space contains a small shop area featuring clothing and other small trinkets and a separate area for the art studio.
The a la carte art options ranged from around $15 to $35 and from painting to collaging. There’s even a bead bar if you’re making a bracelet. We had a fun time with what we chose!
It’s an expensive outing with more than a couple people, but I will definitely be returning and like supporting local places like this!
Such a gem! The space is beautiful, inspiring and filled with local artwork. They also have an art thrift shop where you can find unique treasures and supplies at great prices. The art cafe is such a creative concept that offers a menu of fun art projects. This place is a true creative hub and a fantastic addition to the neighborhood.
