“Mocha Grande” by Copie Rodriguez is a contemporary portrait of a Starbucks barista painted across repurposed coffee sleeves. Arranged in a circular, radiating format, the cardboard sleeves become both the painting’s surface and part of its subject, connecting the worker to the materials of the coffee industry.
The work combines figurative painting, assemblage and found-object art. Its use of discarded consumer packaging places it within a broader tradition of artists who transform everyday commercial materials into fine art. The tondo format and textured brown surface draw attention to the central figure while the visible sleeve seams emphasize the handmade construction. The piece would appeal to collectors interested in contemporary portraiture, urban art, recycled materials and artwork exploring labor and consumer culture.
Such a fun date night. Very helpful and friendly staff. I also bought some prints to bring home. Can't wait to go again soon.
Had a lovely time here with my partner. I love the concept of the place. We especially appreciated that there were art projects available for a variety of skill levels. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. The attached art supply thrift store is very cool too.
Had such an amazing time with my daughter!! So many options for us to choose from. Staff are also encouraging and support you at any skill level :-)
I hosted a small get together for my daughter’s tenth birthday and I couldn’t be happier.
The staff was kind, patient and encouraging. They truly made all of the girls feel comfortable and supported, helping them bring their ideas to life.
I especially loved that each child created something completely unique!
We recently held a team-building event at Asbury Park Art Club and had a fantastic experience. The venue has a cool, artsy seaside vibe and aesthetic that sets a creative tone. Our small group of 7 made Découpage Seashells, which is a seasonal project. Karen and her staff were very attentive throughout the process, providing guidance to our group and ensuring we had everything we needed. It’s the perfect space for a small group seeking a unique experience.
What a wonderful little gem in Asbury Park. We made our crafts and had plenty of encouragement from the owner and staff. I highly recommend this place for a fun afternoon with kids (and not so little kids!)
Local art for sale, art thrift shop & an Art cafe! What a fabulous place! Can’t wait to return with my friends to create our own art!
Read what others are saying - or, if you’ve joined us for an art project, event, or just some spontaneous shopping, we’d love to hear from you.
