“Corn-Fed Beauties” is an original hand-cut collage on wood by Karen Propp. Three young girls in traditional long skirts look toward three older women exercising in short outfits. Repeated gingham patterns connect the two groups, while the phrases “and some are made this way” and “corn-fed beauties” suggest the transition from girlhood to womanhood. The work explores growing up and changing ideas of femininity.
