Kate Opal Creative
Kate Opal Creative is the vision of an Asbury Park–based designer who makes preppy, eclectic goods and apparel for cheeky femmes, bookworms, and Swifties. Her creations are infused with wit, nostalgia, and pop culture references, offering playful self-expression with a stylish twist.
Kate’s work combines classic preppy aesthetics with humor and irreverence. By mashing up kitsch, literature, and music, she creates designs that embrace both feminine confidence and quirky self-deprecation.
A self-taught professional photographer and lifelong hobbyist, Kate has always pursued creativity in evolving forms. Formerly a high school English teacher, she now infuses her love of books and storytelling into her design work.
Kate hopes her creations make people laugh and spark joy while celebrating individuality and a love of culture.
A punk-and-indie kid turned Swiftie, Kate is also co-founder of the Silent Book Club of Monmouth County. She’s passionate about books, thrift stores, pets, and uplifting creative women.

Had a lovely time here with my partner. I love the concept of the place. We especially appreciated that there were art projects available for a variety of skill levels. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. The attached art supply thrift store is very cool too.
Had such an amazing time with my daughter!! So many options for us to choose from. Staff are also encouraging and support you at any skill level :-)
I hosted a small get together for my daughter’s tenth birthday and I couldn’t be happier.
The staff was kind, patient and encouraging. They truly made all of the girls feel comfortable and supported, helping them bring their ideas to life.
I especially loved that each child created something completely unique!
We recently held a team-building event at Asbury Park Art Club and had a fantastic experience. The venue has a cool, artsy seaside vibe and aesthetic that sets a creative tone. Our small group of 7 made Découpage Seashells, which is a seasonal project. Karen and her staff were very attentive throughout the process, providing guidance to our group and ensuring we had everything we needed. It’s the perfect space for a small group seeking a unique experience.
What a wonderful little gem in Asbury Park. We made our crafts and had plenty of encouragement from the owner and staff. I highly recommend this place for a fun afternoon with kids (and not so little kids!)
Local art for sale, art thrift shop & an Art cafe! What a fabulous place! Can’t wait to return with my friends to create our own art!
